4TH INTERNATIONAL INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL OF LA PLATA FESTIFREAK

Short films submission deadline for the 4th Edition of the FICIFF Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente de La Plata FestiFreak (International Independent Film Festival of La Plata –FestiFreak) is September the 12th. The Festival will take place at Centro Cultural Pasaje Dardo Rocha, in the city of La Plata, on October 18th-26th, 2008. A total of $10,000 in prizes will be awarded to the following categories: Fiction, Animation, Documentary, Experimental and Video clip.

There will be one prize per category: First Prize Fiction: $1,000, First Prize Animation: $1,000, First Prize Documentary: $1,000, First Prize Experimental: $1,000, and First Prize Video clip: $1,000 to directors of the chosen productions, apart from as many Special Honours as the jury considers appropriate.

There will also be a $5,000 (five thousand Argentinian pesos) prize called Premio Instituto Cultural de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires Cultural Institute Prize) awarded to the best national short of the five categories.

The announcement is aimed at people from all around the world and of all ages. Shorts must not exceed 15-minute duration, and submissions will be accepted every day from 8am to 10pm at: Centro Cultural Pasaje Dardo Rocha, Calle 50 entre 6 y 7 (50 Street, between 6 Street and 7 Street), CP 1900, La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 Last year members of the jury chose the winning shorts among 300 submitted films which were watched by 8,000 people in 10 days and 100 performances.  

This 4th Edition of the FICIFF is organized by Grupo Freak, and is supported by The National University of La Plata, Buenos Aires Cultural Institute, Municipality of La Plata’s Culture and Education Department, Municipality of Berisso, Municipality of Ensenada, the INCAA (Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales: National Institute of Cinematography and Audio-visual Arts), Goethe Institut, the Korea Latin America Cultural Centre, the Canada Embassy in Argentina, the French Embassy in Argentina, Cine Ojo, 791cine, solocortos.com and YPF.
